Renaissance and Reformation

The invention of the printing press in the mid-fifteenth century by Johannes Gutenberg spread literature through out Europe causing the Northern Renaissance. The Italian Renaissance was devoted to the secular and the Northern Renaissance was engulfed in religion which eventually lead to the Protestant Reformation.

The Renaissance ended in the early 1500's with the end of the Roman Empire.
